Trace each child back to one parent

Review a variation file as a graph, not as unrelated rows. Every child should reference a parent SKU that exists in the same intended family, and the relationship values should agree about which row is the parent and which rows are children. A typo in one parent SKU can split a family even when all option values look complete.

• List parent SKUs first and confirm that each one is unique.
• Group child rows by their referenced parent before checking option values.
• Investigate blank or self-referencing parent relationships rather than guessing the intended family.

Check option combinations inside each family

The combination of variation attributes should identify one sellable child. Two rows with the same color-and-size combination under one parent are a conflict even if their SKUs differ. Also check that each child supplies the attributes required by the selected theme and that option names do not drift between equivalent values.

• Normalize accidental spaces and case before comparing option combinations.
• Do not combine unrelated products merely because they share one attribute.
• Re-run the final export because spreadsheet sorting can separate or duplicate family rows.
