Distinguish identifiers from sellable combinations

SKU checks answer whether operational identifiers repeat; option checks answer whether two rows describe the same selectable variant. Review both by row number and product handle. Do not automatically delete a row until you know whether the SKU is intentionally shared across a bundle, location, or legacy record.

• Normalize accidental whitespace and case before comparing values.
• Review blank SKUs as a separate completeness issue.
• Compare option names and their order across every row in the handle group.

Verify downstream consequences before merging rows

Changing a SKU or option value can affect inventory, fulfillment, feeds, and external references. Use the checker to isolate conflicting rows, then apply the correction in the owning catalog workflow. Re-export and recheck rather than assuming the edited worksheet matches the saved CSV.

• Keep a mapping when an existing SKU must change.
• Confirm barcode and fulfillment references after identifier edits.
• Test representative variant families before a full import.
