Is the XLSX download a real spreadsheet file?
Yes. The blank, example, and completed downloads are .xlsx workbooks with Inventory, Inventory details, and Read me sheets. You can also download CSV for simpler imports or to continue editing here later.
Can I use the template in Google Sheets?
Yes. Download the XLSX or CSV file here, then import that local file into Google Sheets yourself. This page does not create or claim to provide a hosted Google Sheet.
Does the tool save or upload my home inventory?
The tool automatically saves a recovery copy in this browser on this device, but it does not upload the inventory. You can remove that saved copy from the tool. Clearing browser data also removes it, so download XLSX or CSV for a separate backup.
Is estimated replacement cost an insurance valuation?
No. It is only your personal estimate. It is not an appraisal, proof of value, a coverage decision, or a substitute for your insurer's requirements.
How should I back up a home inventory?
Keep more than one protected copy, including one away from the home or in secure storage, and update the record after major purchases. Protect files that contain serial numbers or personal details.
